Charlie the Parrot pines for biscuits

From two biscuit loving-birds to another, we couldn’t not give this cheeky birthday girl a shout out today after ruffling a few feathers with her pre-birthday trip out.

Charlie, the blue-fronted Amazon parrot had escaped from the Tropical Butterfly House in North Anston on Wednesday while out in their bird display area.

The wind picked her up and flew her off course, with Charlie unable to find her way back to the aviary.

After a desperate social media plea by the team at the Tropical Butterfly House, Charlie had the whole community perched on the edge of their seats waiting for her safe return.

She was found safe and sound just as the crow flies in the car park of Dinnington Tesco’s – eating chocolate digestive biscuits. A whole new take on Polly wants a cracker.

We heard out on the branch that she was collecting her clubcard points to cash in for a birthday treat.

Having once been a pet, Charlie has been at the wildlife centre for 17 years and celebrates her 19th birthday today.

A much-loved addition to the many exotic animals at the centre, Charlie received a special birthday cake to celebrate turning 19 as well as for her safe return. But with sadly no biscuits in sight.
