With thoughts of freshening up your wardrobe, keep your overall look in the bag with freelance makeup artist, Abbey Clayton’s, top new trends for springtime glamour.
Lips to Love
Bold lips are THE statement this season paired with minimal makeup to let your lips do the talking.
For this look, I opted for a bright red lip with a matte smokey eye for a glam evening look. Any colour will work so choose your favourite shade to keep it wearable and achievable. I used BH Cosmetics Liquid Lipstick in the shade Glory (around £6.00).
For everyday wear, apply a quick coat of mascara and your favourite blusher with a bright lip of choice – pinks are a great option for daytime.
To make sure your bold lip is budge proof try using a liquid lipstick which applies like a lipgloss but dries completely matte, making it last all day long.
Top tip: Matte lipsticks can be drying on your lips so apply plenty of lip balm before your bold pop of colour.
All That Glitters
Glitter is everywhere this season, on the eyes, on the lips, even on the cheeks.
Here I simply added a small amount of glitter to the inner corner of my eyes making it the statement area of my look without being too overpowering for either day or night.
I added the glitter on top of a monochromatic eye which is another popular trend this season chosen by many designers for S/S17. As my eyes are all one colour, the glitter helps to add a small amount of texture. I also chose some beautiful fluffy false CINK lashes in the style Holy Grail to make the eyes pop even more (£6.99).
Top tip: Use a pressed glitter instead of loose; this makes the glitter easy to apply and last all day without getting glitter everywhere. My favourite pressed glitters are from Glitter Queens Emporium as there is no need for a primer or glitter glue.
The best way to apply them is by carefully pressing your finger into the glitter, then pressing it on your lid by rolling your finger. For this look I used Glitter Queens Emporium Pressed Glitter in the shade Lust (£7.69).
