Get out your running shoes and kick-start your training as the Rotherham 10K event is back for 2022 following a two-year hiatus owing to the pandemic.
The event will take place on Sunday 15th May at 10am and will be followed at 12pm by a one-mile lap around Clifton Park for the fun run and schools’ Mile a Day Challenge.
This year, the route has been modified to address safety concerns on Centenary Way and give residents in Canklow and Clifton access to their vehicles. All roads on the route will be closed to vehicles with full marshalling in place for runners’ safety.
Starting and finishing in Clifton Park, the 10k route will encompass Drummond Street, pedestrianised streets in the town centre, Westgate heading towards the footpath on Centenary Way, before looping back into the town past Rotherham Minster and up College Street to Doncaster Gate. The route then heads back up passed the park to Broom and Wickersley Road towards Herringthorpe Stadium before the home straight into the park.
Every entrant who crosses the finish line will receive a medal, and there is also a total of £620 in cash prizes up for grabs for the first three runners in each category, as well as awards for the first Rotherham runner and corporate challenge team.
Aroundtown is also proud to sponsor the school’s challenge cup awarded to the Rotherham school who has four pupils past the finish line of the fun run in the quickest time.
The Rotherham 10K is sponsored by Maltby motorbike shop and café, Revs and Relics and the event will be hosted by RB1 Radio. As ever, all proceeds will be donated to Age UK Rotherham.
Closing date for entries to the 10K is Friday 6th May at 12pm. The cost is £16 for affiliated runners or £20 for non-affiliated runners.
