This May, the nation is being encouraged to unite to mark the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day, with celebrations taking place across South Yorkshire.
On Thursday 8th May, it will be 80 years since the official end of the Second World War. In 1945, the Allies accepted Germany’s surrender of its armed forces after almost six years of conflict in Europe.

VE Day is a time to remember the sacrifices made throughout WWII. Communities are encouraged to join in with celebrations for what might be our last chance to thank surviving veterans.
On Bank Holiday Monday 5th May, join in with the Great British Food Festival by getting together with family, friends, colleagues or neighbours. It could be a BBQ, a fry up, a curry night, fish and chips, or a street party.
Or join in with these local events.
