If you or someone you care about is feeling isolated, Rawmarsh High Street Centre is a hub for community, connection and support.
The non-profit organisation, founded in 2002, is dedicated to transforming lives of people from Rawmarsh and Parkgate who are feeling lonely, disconnected, or socially isolated.

Whether it’s due to ageing, illness, disability, mental health challenges, or major life changes, many people find themselves feeling cut off from the world around them. Rawmarsh High Street Centre is here to help you reconnect via their Stronger Together project.
Through friendly, welcoming programmes like creative craft workshops, walking groups, and companionship clubs, the centre creates safe, inclusive spaces where adults can make new connections and feel a sense of belonging.
Their mission it to make people feel seen, heard, and valued, whether that’s via a natter and potter around nearby Rosehill Park, a trip to the theatre or cinema, or a game of indoor boules. They have a range of sessions taking place throughout the week, with everything from painting, sewing and card making to quizzes, brain games and language classes.
You can self-refer or be referred by a GP or nurse for wellbeing purposes. These groups are all free thanks to funding from the National Lottery Community Fund.

The centre also runs a weekly chit chat café on Tuesdays from 10.30am serving up friendly conversations alongside homemade food at cheap-as-chips prices. Aimed again at people who are lonely or isolated, it’s a chance to meet new people over a cuppa and a freshly made scone or slice of quiche.
Many people feel hesitant to ask for help, but reaching out is a strong and positive step. You’ll find no judgment, just kind faces and listening ears.
Looking to find out more? On Tuesday 7th October, they’re hosting an open event alongside their AGM where they will be giving presentations and sharing success stories.
Rawmarsh High Street Centre is next to the methodist church on High Street, Rawmarsh S62 6LN.
